BCH takes vintage approach for Kentucky Bourbon Festival collectible poster

Kentucky bourbon is steeped in craftsmanship and tradition. So, when the Kentucky Bourbon Festival asked us to design its annual poster commemorating the industry’s weeklong celebration that draws 50,000 visitors from around the world, we took a similar approach.

BCH art director Tom Anderson hand drew an elaborate design that includes many subtle references to the bourbon culture and lexicon – including angel’s share, whiskey thief, bourbon flights, and more. We then partnered with the vintage letterpress company Hound Dog Press to produce collectible numbered prints. Hound Dog artists hand carved the BCH design (in reverse!) into the wooden printer’s plate, and hand mixed ink in the Festival’s signature amber and black colors.

A limited run of the first 120 hand-numbered plate-printed premium posters, as well as regular edition prints are available on the Kentucky Bourbon Festival website.

Marking its 28th year, the Kentucky Bourbon Festival will be celebrated in Bardstown, Kentucky, September 18-22, during National Bourbon Heritage Month with dozens of events across Bourbon Country.
